Hair thinning conversations focus on pattern, timeline, and regenerative options such as PRP—discussed with realistic expectations.
The plain-language overview
Hair loss has many drivers—genetics, stress, hormones, and more. Naming the pattern matters before treatment talk.
PRP and related approaches may be discussed for appropriate candidates after evaluation.

Learn moreThinning hair is rarely just cosmetic. It changes how you look in photos, under a bright light, and in the mirror. Stem cell therapy is being studied as a way to support the follicles you still have, rather than waiting until the loss is advanced. In a randomized trial, people with hereditary hair loss who used a topical solution made from fat-derived stem cells saw hair count rise about 28 percent at 16 weeks, compared with about 7 percent in the placebo group. Hair was also thicker. Other studies of stem-cell injections into the scalp have found more density than minoxidil alone, with mild swelling the most common complaint. It will not restore a bald scalp, and results vary. If thinning is bothering you, Dr. Kellum starts with a conversation about your history, your goals, and whether you are a candidate.
