Stem cell therapy
Stem cell therapy is being studied as a way to calm the inflammation linked to heart disease. In the DREAM-HF trial, patients with ischemic heart failure and high inflammation who received mesenchymal precursor cells had fewer heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular deaths than those given a sham procedure. The main study goal was not met, and the benefit was clearest in patients who already had elevated inflammatory markers. This is not a replacement for standard heart care.
