IV Therapy for Immune Boosting by Dr. Ethan Kellum

IV therapy (intravenous therapy) delivers fluids and certain nutrients directly into the bloodstream through a small IV line. Because it bypasses the digestive system, the body can receive hydration and nutrients without needing to absorb them through the stomach and intestines. IV therapy for “immune boosting” can be helpful if you feel run down, are under a lot of stress, aren’t sleeping well, are travelling, or want extra support during cold and flu season.

One of the most common foundations of an immune-support IV is hydration. Even mild dehydration can make people feel tired, achy, and sluggish, which can feel like “my immune system is low.” Replacing fluids and electrolytes may help some individuals feel better, especially after travel, intense exercise, heat exposure, or periods of poor fluid intake.

Some immune-focused IVs include Vitamin C. Vitamin C is known for supporting normal immune cell function and acting as an antioxidant, which helps the body manage oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can rise during illness, poor sleep, intense workouts, or high stress.

Zinc is another ingredient that is sometimes added. Zinc is an essential mineral involved in many immune functions, including supporting enzymes and helping maintain healthy barrier tissues like skin and mucous membranes. Zinc tends to be most helpful when a person’s intake is low, absorption is limited, or needs are higher than usual.

Glutathione may also be offered in some wellness IV plans. Glutathione is one of the body’s main internal antioxidants. It supports cellular protection and recovery pathways. People report feeling better after glutathione.

Vitamin B blends (often called B-complex) are also commonly included. Vitamin B supports energy metabolism and nervous system function. Since fatigue and feeling “run down” are common reasons people seek immune support, Vitamin B may be helpful when poor intake, stress, or high demand is part of the picture.

IV therapy for immune boosting is best used as an add-on to the basics: good sleep, balanced nutrition, hydration, stress management, and appropriate medical care. If you have ongoing fatigue, frequent infections, or worsening symptoms, we can help you identify underlying causes and develop the right treatment plan.
